What tips could you give, a newbie blogger, on increasing his readership?

Participate in other blogs, forums, etc. that discuss your subject matter. Create profiles on Twitter, Facebook ,etc as appropriate and set up those sites so that your blog entries automatically feed your FB news feed and Twitter feed, etc.

Make sure your username and profile photo are consistent across all the sites.

As you'll soon see, regulars on this forum, for example, are regulars who get to know each other and I know that when Chris Loosley, Stuart Hobday or any number of other regulars post some tip it's going to be worth reading.

Hello

Bonnie is right. Participate in forums whose content is similar to that which you are blogging about. Twitter is good but only follow and be followed by people that genuinely interesting - tammy38dd may not be the ideal reader or contributor!! If you have a select group of followers then that will give you a good reputation. Twitter is good social networking and not a competition to see who has the most followers.

Use facebook to connect with similar people, organisations, magazines and groups etc. This again will give your visitors a clear vision of who you are and what you are about.

If you think your design is good enough, submit it to the 'best design' communities. This will then drive a large amount of traffic into the site - some of which may stay, regularly visit and subscribe to feeds etc.

Most importantly, keep the content true to who you are and what you want. Don't just blog something because somebody else has and it seems popular. Try to find original content, and include personal things - visitors warm to that.

Hope that helps

Stu

You can't ignore the fact that content syndication through social media is powerful if done
correctly. This is how the fortune 500 companies and even webmasters or networkers are
getting their messages out. Syndicating content is nothing new; it's used by news organizations,
cable television, and radio. This is still effective and is not going away anytime soon. Using social
networks like Facebook, Twitter or Digg gets your content spreading like wildfire. Getting your
content out to the masses through social media is a great medium but it can be time consuming.

Social Media Science and Synnd Network have developed a community of over 600 plus members
that will syndicate each others content through the different social networks. Not only is this
powerful, but the Social Media Science team has put together hours of educational training video’s
to help you understand how to syndicate your content using the software.

SYNND operates under a credit system. You receive 1 credit for syndicating another members
content and it costs you 1 credit when someone syndicates your content. On average the systems
remote automator will ( with no action on your part) digg, vote or tweet on other members content
for you collecting about 500 credits per month. You can also manually syndicate content to collect
more credits. There's even a module for commenting which earns even more credits based on the
number of words.

This is important: All content is edited before it goes live in the system to be sure that it
contains value which protects your social status.

Just for fun I decided to give SYNND a shot. I figured one buck for a 14 day trial was worth a look.
After submitting up to 10 social networking sites users names and passwords I started poking
around at other members content and began earning credits. After collecting 50 credits which
doesn't take long I submitted two articles. One for Bookmarking sites and one for Syndication.

I also had the option of controlling the amount of “Buzzes” ( tweets, votes, or comments) per
day. So I set it at 20 and watched the system in action. Within minutes I started loosing credits,
which is a good thing. The interface shows you where your content is being syndicated and by
whom (user name).

My daily quota was reached within 4 hours. Now the same process will continue the next day until
I pause the campaign. I figured 50 was a good number to stop at so I can save credits for another
campaign.

Here's the kicker. I checked my referrers stats at my blog after the first 24 hours and I was getting
visits from places and networks that I had never heard of. Since these visits were being sent to a
specific page I should in a very short period of time start to rank well for that specific keyword and
some other words that I hadn't considered.

The two articles that I submitted took a 40% increase in visits overnight and the numbers are still
steadily rising. SYNND gets the snowball rolling in the social networks for you and allows you to
spend more time on writing great content and less on marketing your content.

I was a little skeptical about SYNND at first but now I am a believer. If you have content that is
educational, enlightening, or entertaining I can assure you that it will get syndicated fast and
traffic to your blog will amaze you. If your content is promotional bookmark it using SYNND and
you'll get the same results.
