Design + Coding > Language thingy in v5

How do I change the "Post a comment" text to i.e. "Skrevet av" (thats norwegian) ?
I have two SS sites and one of them is the Advanced package... = )

I have the same problem here in Sweden. We need to push Squarespace so they let us back in to the editing mode that we had in version 4. V4 was better off regarding this. Now I can not make a single translation ....

As far as I understood page templates would no longer be editable in v. 5. We are having a similar problem as you with some Bulgarian translations we did in v. 4.

We must all write them a support mail and explain that it doesnt work for us non-english bloggers. Tell them we have to migrate if they dont fix a translation solution quickly. I am sad to say that because I have loved Squarespace since 2004 ...

Hmm. We want to do something intelligent with translations -- not just template-editing hackishness. Let me see what I can come up with. Now that we've fixed in place the template code, this sort of thing is going to be MUCH easier for us to implement.

If any of you would like to volunteer for an official translation in your language -- mail me at acasalena at squarespace.com. I'll start compiling a list.

Okay, thanks for taking this serious. We all love v5 but we were taken by surprise (as you also mention in your post in the service blog). Anyway, v5 is here and let´s all make it the best we can. I am cheering up now when I see you are on the "translation" thing.

Just remember one important thing: It is not that much about translation as for personal adjustments. What we want to be able to do is to change words and phrases in to our own "language" and with that I dont mean just swedish or norwegian or bulgarian. I need the freedom to for example change the word "entry" or "comment" to whatever I wanna call it. Are you with me on what I mean? :)

Wehad this great opportunity in v4 when we could go in to the modules and rewrite words and phrases.

This is very important.

Keep the good news coming and Long Live Squarespace!

I second all of the above opinions and will volunteer for the Dutch version. As an *interim* solution editting the template doesn't sound bad. A configurable language string file sounds best long term.

Cool ! I´ve sent you a mail Anthony.

I second what Jack said about the freedom to change the texts to whatever you like. On one site a "journal entry" is actually a photo, on another site it is a video, a recipe, a letter, a poem, or whatever. That kind of flexibility would be great to have.

There's a LOT of hidden flexibility built into V5. For instance, you can make it say "Next X Videos", or change any of the words on the post slug by double clicking the word in the re-arranger area.

We'll definitely address this "any string replacement" thing. Mark my words that it's coming :)

Though new to Squarespace as far as I can see the language problem is the only obstacle to start using it when developing sites for our scandinavian customers. Will the change also make it possible to write our own text in forms as well?

EDIT: Just found out how to alter the forms - this keeps getting better :-)
