Squarespace Developer Platform: APIs, Apps, and Docs
MCP

Connect a Client

The Squarespace MCP server is a remote MCP endpoint. You do not install a local server binary; your client connects over HTTPS.

Server URL

Code
https://mcp.squarespace.com/mcp

Authentication: None. No API key, OAuth flow, or Squarespace account is required to connect or call the public domain tools.

Claude (Desktop)

  1. Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config (or your client's MCP configuration file).
  2. Add a server entry pointing at https://mcp.squarespace.com/mcp using your client's supported transport (HTTP/SSE remote MCP).
  3. Restart the client if required.
  4. Confirm domains_search and domains_generate_names appear in the tool list.

Exact UI labels change between Claude releases; treat the URL above as the stable value.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Connectors (or Apps & Connectors, depending on your plan and client version).
  2. Add a custom MCP or remote MCP connector with URL https://mcp.squarespace.com/mcp.
  3. Enable the connector for a new chat.
  4. Confirm domain tools are available before asking domain questions.

Gemini

  1. In Gemini settings, add an MCP or extension endpoint if your build supports remote MCP (feature availability varies).
  2. Set the server URL to https://mcp.squarespace.com/mcp.
  3. Start a chat with the connector enabled.

Any MCP-compatible client

Configure a remote MCP server with:

  • URL: https://mcp.squarespace.com/mcp
  • Protocol: MCP over HTTP (JSON-RPC); send initialize, then tools/list / tools/call as your client requires.

Example tools/list request:

JSONCode
{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/list", "params": {} }

Use headers Content-Type: application/json and Accept: application/json, text/event-stream.

Verify your connection

After connecting, try a natural-language message such as:

"Check whether example-test-domain.com is available on Squarespace."

The client should call domains_search (or an equivalent prompt) and return availability and pricing—not an HTTP error from a REST path on the developer portal.

For tool and prompt reference, see Tools and Prompts.
